LIBRA - VIII - ADJUSTMENT Daughter of the Lords of Truth - Ruler of the Balances

This card is a meditative tool for Libra, as the god-form of Maat focus on the image and whisper:
Ma`at
VavHehYodHe A`oz`pe Al`pu`dus Zu`re`el Ka`da`ke`el Moz`ni`em Ya`el Av`e`r`ron
Zi`ba`an`na
Appearance: She is the compliment to the Fool. In many packs if you examine them closely, you will sometimes notice elements of the Fool in your Justice card. Notice how these elements have aged and dried-up. This is symbolic of the experience-gained while the aspirant travels through the different developmental levels of the tarot as the Fool. She symbolizes the "Woman Satisfied". A woman satisfied has a certain air about her. This attitude is symbolized by the look on her masked face, and also her harlequin style tip-toe dance. This hieroglyph very adequately describes the attitude of her decision. It is a decision straight from Mother Nature herself. Her blue head symbolizes her deep wisdom and multi-tiered levels of understanding, necessary to make high-triage decisions. The way she holds the phallic-handled Magick-Sword hints that; the "woman satisfied" has conquered the male principle, thus completing the Formula of the Tetragrammaton. The Alpha and Omega are equally balanced on the Scales of Justice. Her many stepped robe is in relation to the entire path of the aspirant. These steps have led to her full understanding of the laws of equilibrium and her faith in their current state of balance. At this point she fully understands why the Alpha and Omega are in a state of perfect balance. It is the start & the end, of all manifestation, balanced on the chains of the Uraeus Serpent; the Lord of Life & Death. The crown of Ostrich plumes is the Head-dress of the Egyptian Goddess Maat, and is also a supportive structure for the Scales of Justice. Behind her are the four pillars of Initiation, and on the roof is what appears to be a Masonic checkerboard floor, but upon close inspection it morphs into a pyramid studded alien landscape. Eight small globes support the Pillars of Initiation from above and below. And from the realms of metaphysics; four larger globes adorn the corners of this card. Even though the eight small globes appear self supportive, the four larger globes represent the great yet subtle forces that govern morals & character. You have reached a point in your life that your past experiences have equated into a deeper understanding of the multiple layers and levels of perception. This awareness has resulted in a natural balance to develop in your attitude, a faith in nature's ability to provide you with the thought-process necessary to navigate in our modern society.

Interpretation: VIII Adjustment's part in a card reading will depend greatly on the surrounding Court and Minor Arcana cards. Normally it would represent a balancing of the situation. Near a Court card it could represent that person being in control of a situation. Near a Minor card it would represent the situation being, as it should be. Near a Major Arcana card it would represent a balanced passage between two major conditions in your life. A Thelemite phrase that really fits here is: "Do what though wilt shall be the whole of the Law". "Love is the law, love under will". Whatever you decide to do on your daily travels, it is totally up to you. Weather it is good, bad or indifferent; nature will redeem herself, and she will do this with a smile. She will do this with the sword. The sword teaches. Nature is not always fair, but she is just. This card could sometimes hint at friends that are not really your friends. Or those times when you remember and review situations that seem regretful. These things are not fun but they are a part of life. These painful situations and their introspection usually result in growth. This growth is represented in the hieroglyph above.

The Mysteries: This card symbolizes the upper levels of Initiation. The aspirant understands the true meaning of "Equilibrium" and its implications in the wrong hands. He/she is qualified to lead and teach as necessary to complete the great work. You are now qualified to hold the lives and deaths of others in your hands and work. Dedication, Sincerity and Oath have brought you here.
