The planet Luna has dual aspects. One aspect would be a direct reflection of Kether, represented in II High Priestess, the other is the earthy aspect of the Moon, it is path 29 between the Victory of Netzach and the Kingdom of Malkuth. That is which this essay will focus on, the earthy aspect of Luna. Reflected in Pisces as "XVIII LUNA - Gateway of Resurrection".
It's midnight, and the Scarab Beetle of Khepera sails across a stagnant pond of Pisces water, while following a reflection of the Sun. This reflection seems to be coming from under the water, shining even to the other side of the black towers, then lighting a path upwards between the blue walls, towards the Footsteps of Yod.
The blue and copper underwater wavelengths are sonar being Mercurial, and Venusian in their persuasion. The aspirant may have to dip his head into the stagnant water to receive this influence. The Hebrew letter Qoph stands for the back of the head, which is where he will receive the sonar frequencies.
The underwater Sun, as the Scarab's cargo is constructed of light, shining from the lamp of IX Hermit. The Hermit is crossing the Abyss from the polar opposite, and will materialize beyond the black towers, he could be a guiding light, leading you to the Keys of Mercury, or even the Orphic Egg. There is no movement upon this Pisces-era water except the patient wax & wane of the Moon.
But tonight is different, its late winter, so cold that the air seems ineffective, like there is no air, and while looking in the sky, Venus eclipses the Moon. neo
The planetary pull of the eclipse, moves the Beetle across the pond, towards a path which runs between the Black Towers. Each tower is guarded by the Twin Jackals of Khem, which is the double form of Anubis. Guarding the twins, are their un-shackled twin black dogs of death, Tabu: watchers in the twilight.
The will is inhibited, and because there is no air here, fire will not stay lit, so with the light from IX Hermit, the aspirant must acquire the keys from the twin guards, and gain the breath of Mercury. This is the secret of breathing on the moon, the secret of gaining intellectual advantages to complete your path.
This would hint at the Aspirant finding what he needs to continue hidden in unlikely places, even scary places.
We see nine Yod-like footsteps imprinted in blood, depressed upon the barren uphill path, which rises above the sky-blue walls, leading to a Moon-eclipsed Venus. These are footprints of the masters that have gone before you, and should be followed very, very closely, as they represent the path of many generations of Initiates, leading back to the beginnings. In a place with no air, the only indication of Fire would be these footprints of the Masters.
This card could represent the uncommon path like Witchcraft or Magick, or the aspirant's fears of a new path. Your knowledge is growing, you have left the stage of XII Hanged Man and have now embarked on a mysterious path, though this option seems stagnant until you lose fear, and take those steps.
Your initial footsteps are clear, albeit scary, these paths lead to Venus, a watery planet, and would represent Love. All roads beyond these footsteps are vague at best, but it is apparent that there are many to choose from once there.
This card indicates an opportunity arising, once you face your fears.
Interpretation:
This card will represent stagnation in the Querent's path, the Minors and Court will light the situation.
In most cases you will find this stagnation rooted in fear. To the brave aspirant, this card could represent an adventure of the highest sort, but to the timid, it could represent their biggest fears.
Many people are afraid of changes period, and terrified at this kind of change. This is the scary kind. In the Querent's mind, there are multiple reasons to fear a new path, most are obvious. The message in this card is that if you can face your fears and take the first few steps, than all will be good for you. The scarab, which is the associated God-form of zodiacal Cancer, would represent the sincerity of the aspirant's actions. If you look over at your Querent and see an excited grin and gleaming half-dollar eyes, then you have encountered the minority aspect of this cards representative, the brave of heart. This is the kind of person that sees all options as adventures and the scarier the option the better.

Each Anubis holds a slightly different key, one Positive-Mercury and the other Negative-Mercury. Also notice, that in the double form of Anubis, each twin has different colour eyes, one black eye, and the other white, in this opposition is unity; and the secret to gaining the Keys of Mercury. The hint of unity lies in Tabu, the identical-twin black dogs of death; harness your fear of them and gain the keys to the twin black Towers, and access to the path of the Moon. The double form of Anubis is the associated god-form for Pisces and they should be considered the guardians of the uniting of Horus and Set. They are guarding each-other, as each holds the key to the opposite tower. The lamp of IX Hermit directs the aspirant into the Orphic Egg and XIV Art to unite Horus and Set, awakening Osiris who easily passes through the valley of the Moon. This is really another version of The Caduceus of Hermes, and we could even name the Anubis twins: Ida Nadi and Pingala Nadi, with Susshama Nadi being represented by the aspirant's path itself. This formula insures success if the aspirant will simply walk past the black dogs and into the unknown. It is an emblem of faith. Holding XVIII Luna alongside IX Hermit at an arms length distance away, and crossing your eyes; you will see a third image appear between the two. This third image will be made up of both cards. You will notice an interesting image unfolding. Once the new image starts to jump and flash, whisper the mantra above, and just relax, drifting off into gnosis with Pisces.
