HOD The four 8s - The Absolute or Perfect Consciousness

Theurgic Invoking Method:   In the magickal god-form of Anubis, vibrate: "In`pu", while standing erect and facing a waxing Mercury in the East, with the utterance of: HehYodVavHe Elo`hem Tsev`eot, Meh`kha`el, Be`na`E`lo`hem, and Hod. Start by tracing Orange Invoking Hod Hexagrams in the Four Quarters and again in the East.  Trace your Orange Hod Hexagrams while uttering atidada “Arareta”; then trace a Blue Mercury1symbol in the center while uttering “HehYodVavHeh Elo`hem Tse`ve`ot”; Project Orange light with the Sign of the Enterer; give LVX signs; Proclaim “In the name of the lord “HehYodVavHeh Elo`hem Tse`ve`ot”, of the Archangel Me`Kah`El, and the choir of angels Be`nah Elo`hem, I invoke you forces of "Hod”.

'Mysteries of Hod:

As the eighth sphere on the tree of life, located below the abyss, Hod represents Prudence, Swiftness, Interference, and Indolence.  Hod being the complimentary half of Netzach, it could be considered the magician's vehicle.  Anyone who wants to drive, needs a car.  Hod is the Porsche to the professional driver, or the running shoes to an athlete, whereas Netzach would be only a pair of flip flops to the same athlete in the same marathon.  Where in the land of sevens, it seemed like your wheels were spinning, here in the land of eights, you have found traction and are moving in a good direction, despite having the same tires.   The Mercurial influence pervades all action here, whether it be your knowledgeable decisions, your lack of decision (despite knowledge), the speed in your decision (because of knowledge), or your knowledge of why your decision didn't even matter (due to outside influence).   In Magick and Theurgy, at the developmental level of Hod, you should have completed enough ceremony/ritual to conceptualize the planet's location,  the flashing colors, the tarot images, the vibrational utterance/word, and in what godform, that high magick will be possible without any ritual whatsoever (and you know this).   In Netzach its mostly emotional, where in Hod the intellectual completes the equation, creating a wonderful environment for growth, and a perfect foundation for your initiation into the mysteries of 33. 

The 8 of Disks  "PRUDENCE" represents the Earthy aspect of the fourfold HOD.  In a card reading the 8 of Disks will represent an aspect of "PRUDENCE " in relation to the dominant trump in the throw.  This aspect of "PRUDENCE " is minor in nature and will affect the situation in regards to a trump, though if a court card is dominant in your throw, than this "PRUDENCE " could be transmitted to whoever the court card represents, even you.   This card represents Sun in Virgo with a strong Mercurial influence.  We see eight blood colored flowers on a tree planted a long time ago.  Each flower has a yellow inner flower which represents your understanding of the hard work and determination which brought you here.  Each flower is protected by a leaf, combined with the sun-like yellow inner flower, suggesting a symbolic gesture of the mystical marriage, and your realization of such a ride. Greystone mountains represent the foundation which brought you to realization, and even wisdom.  This experience and knowledge brings  "PRUDENCE " to any setting.  Also the understanding that every situation is a seed of divine providence, which brings a wise yet prudent sort of trust in the universe. 

The 8 of Wands "SWIFTNESS" represents the Fiery aspect of the fourfold HOD.  In a card reading the 8 of Wands will represent an aspect of "SWIFTNESS" in relation to the dominant trump in the throw.  This aspect of "SWIFTNESS" is minor in nature and will affect the situation in regards to a trump, though if a court card is dominant in your throw, than this "SWIFTNESS" could be transmitted to whoever the court card represents, even you.  This minor card represents Mercury in Sagittarius. The card being in the suit of fire, it's a subtle fire, one that has transformed into the light of rainbow colors.  Fire established as energy, even zero point energy, manifesting in color and mathematical geometrical form.  This card shows an elemental three dimensional pyramid overlaid with red lightning bolts.  The pyramid displays the foundation of the matter.  The globes inside it are the scientific plan which brought you here, and the red lightning bolts display the amount of time that is recommended to take action.  Move quickly my friend.

 The 8 of Swords "INTERFERENCE" represents the Airy aspect of the fourfold HOD.  In a card reading the 8 of Swords will represent an aspect of "INTERFERENCE" in relation to the dominant trump in the throw.  This aspect of "INTERFERENCE" is minor in nature and will affect the situation in regards to a trump, though if a court card is dominant in your throw, then this "INTERFERENCE" could be transmitted to whoever the court card represents, even you.  This card represents the influence of Jupiter in Gemini.  We see two standard knight's Long-Swords pointing downwards, in front of six particular cultural weapons laying vertical, three pointing right, and three pointing left: the Indonesian's Kriss, the Nepalese Kukri, Viking's Scramasax, the Turkish Yataghan, the Iberian's Dagger, and the South African's Tapanga (or Machete), displayed over a blood-red background of your efforts.   Fortunately, Jupiter's influence wins the day with the two long swords, but the interference of many choices in weaponry are a distraction.   This card is easy to figure out, as long as you are applying it to the matter.

 The 8 of Cups "INDOLENCE" represents the Watery aspect of the fourfold HOD.  In a card reading the 8 of Cups will represent an aspect of "INDOLENCE" in relation to the dominant trump in the throw.  This aspect of "INDOLENCE" is minor in nature and will affect the situation in regards to a trump, though if a court card is dominant in your throw, than this "INDOLENCE" could be transmitted to whoever the court card represents, even you.   This hieroglyph represents the influence of Saturn in Pisces.  Saturn being the gift of knowledge or situation, while Pisces allows ignorance of Hod's Mercurial designation.  We see eight pink cups.  Most are scarred and old looking, the top three, and the central lower one, empty.  The top three cups are balancing on leaves of the Lotus, displaying the subliminal knowledge that the grey skies may bring rain to fill them, but no one seems to care.   The two central cups are overflowing, symbolizing that the aspirant knows what up, regardless of his/her inaction.  The lower three are either empty (like the central one), or half full (like the outer two), symbolizing the aspirant's choice to ignore the situation, which he/she once deemed important.  The Piscean lake is beyond stagnant, as it is crusted over in long-dead moss, with the only fresh water being the holes where the manna/metta from the Lotus blossoms have burned through (these holes are places where the aspirant could stick his/her head up for air).  In the background, squeezed in between storm clouds, and the stagnant water is the golden sky, symbolizing the hope of the ignored matter.   Usually outside influence will not help the situation, as it is up to the aspirant to accept the gift of the given situation.  It sometimes makes you think that the aspirant should poke his/her head up and out from the nasty water, and breath.
