Mysteries of Yesod:

As the ninth sphere on the tree of life, located below the abyss, Yesod represents Gain, Strength, Cruelty and Happiness.    This Sephiroth is equilibrium as a result of change.   Change is stability, as is movement.  An example would be the view inside the lens of an electron microscope.  From afar, everything is stable and solid, but the closer you get, the more movement you notice.  Infact, the minute that matter notices you are looking, it changes.   The best bet, is acceptance of the situation, acceptance and trust, as the universe knows what it's doing.   All the hard times, hard work, and seeming misfortune are illusion, as karma and equilibrium are always in effect, and this Sephiroth is the proof.  If you approach each cosmic degree seriously, and apply research, art, and work to your learning it,  than you would see exactly what I mean.   Yesod has been difficult yet wonderful, with each cruel lesson being supported by strength, equilibrated by gain, and appreciated by happiness.    Some say that nine is the sacred number which the entire universe is constructed by.   I am not an academic, but there are many essays which expound this fact of Gemetria/Numerology.   Yesod is the foundation for life, it represents supportive situations and even systems.  It is the first sign of result in a hard cruel world, the first indication that equilibrium and karma are functioning correctly. To see the mechanics or inner workings of our universe, Yesod  is the scope and nine is the key.

The 9 of Disks  "GAIN" represents the Earthy aspect of the fourfold YESOD.  In a card reading the 9 of Disks will represent an aspect of "GAIN" in relation to the dominant trump in the throw.  This aspect of "GAIN" is minor in nature and will affect the situation in regards to a trump, though if a court card is dominant in your throw, than this "GAIN" could be transmitted to whoever the court card represents, even you.   This card represents Venus in Virgo.  We see nine wax-stamped discs, imitating coins.  The top three have patriarchal figure heads, the center three are Venus, Virgo, and Spirit, the bottom two have incomprehensible images, and the lowest coin harbors the Man in the Moon.   This card represents material favor.  It is raw unfiltered universal good luck.   This good luck is a gift from the universe, and is directed at your life situation, usually described best by the Trumps, Court, and defined by minors like this one in a reading.

The 9 of Wands "STRENGTH" represents the Fiery aspect of the fourfold YESOD.  In a card reading the 9 of Wands will represent an aspect of "STRENGTH" in relation to the dominant trump in the throw.  This aspect of "STRENGTH" is minor in nature and will affect the situation in regards to a trump, though if a court card is dominant in your throw, than this "STRENGTH" could be transmitted to whoever the court card represents, even you.  This minor card represents the Moon in Sagittarius.  We see nine downwards pointed arrows in the background, with eight as a foundation for one additional ninth arrow whose tip is the moon, and tail is the Sun.  The Sagittarius Sun powers the Moon which makes this a strong arrow.  This arrow along with the others are protecting an energy vortex. The upper atmosphere is grey and the lower is green.   A double dose of Luna, as not only is the card represented by the Moon, Yesod also sits on the middle pillar.  So we have the Solar powered arrow shooting straight down the middle pillar.  This implies strength and universal favor in whatever matter this minor wonder may be describing.  In Crowley's book of Thoth he states that there is stability in change, or movement.   He utilizes the examples of how difficult is to ride a bike or draw a line slowly.  In a reading it will always imply the strength of the situation or answer described by your throw.

The 9 of Swords "CRUELTY" represents the Airy aspect of the fourfold YESOD.  In a card reading the 9 of Swords will represent an aspect of "CRUELTY" in relation to the dominant trump in the throw.  This aspect of "CRUELTY" is minor in nature and will affect the situation in regards to a trump, though if a court card is dominant in your throw, then this "CRUELTY" could be transmitted to whoever the court card represents, even you.  This card represents the influence of Mars in Gemini.  We see nine downwards pointed swords, all of them rusty, damaged from battle, and dripping with blood and green poison.   This represents someone else's ill will being involved in your demise.   The sword's normal intellectual attribution has degraded from the result of greed and self centered passion.    Acceptance of the situation is the best advice.   Trust the universe to its equilibrium, as this is the reason for this card, and your rescue thereof.

The 9 of Cups "HAPPINESS" represents the Watery aspect of the fourfold YESOD.  In a card reading the 9 of Cups will represent an aspect of "HAPPINESS" in relation to the dominant trump in the throw.  This aspect of "HAPPINESS" is minor in nature and will affect the situation in regards to a trump, though if a court card is dominant in your throw, than this "HAPPINESS" could be transmitted to whoever the court card represents, even you.   This hieroglyph represents the influence of Jupiter in Pisces.  We see nine overflowing cups, being fed manna/metta from nine Lotuses.   Water, Jupiter, Luna, all of them reinforcing the happiness of this card.  Jupiter being the active water, Pisces being the placid or stagnant quality of water, with the two intermingled in the Lunar influence of Yesod itself.    It doesn't get much better than this in the minor arcana.  The card's name speaks for itself, and will describe your feelings about the given situation.
