MARS: XVI Tower

Secret House of God - Lord of the Hosts of the Mighty
As: Horus: Kru e lo hem ge bor ba ba lel be fa fes ka ma el se raf em graf e el ma a dem Bar tseb el Lah`mu

Appearance:

Dominating the card, is the Eye of Horus, wide awake and seemingly staring right at you.  Horus is the Golden Dawn's god-form for Mars, though Shiva the destroyer may be the god-form to consider here.

The main structure in the image would be the remains of a Tower, whose upper portion has crumbled. There are geometric human-shapes falling down towards the flames.

*Crowley – Book of the Law - Chapter 1 – Verse 57- The goddess Nuith speaks:

Invoke me under the Stars! Love is the law, love under will. There are love and love: "there is the dove, and there is the serpent, choose ye well"
He, my prophet, hath chosen, knowing the law of the fortress, and the great mystery of the house of god.

Flying over the destructed tower is a dove which carries the olive branch. This dove would represent your faith.  Mars attributes can strengthen and inspire you. The olive branch also represents awakening understandings concerning your personal growth and path.

Looking towards the Tower is the Illuminated Lion Serpent, Xnoubis or Abraxa, whom represents the initiates and/or ancestors whom have left the trail called VVVVV.  Its obvious that he can clearly see the Martian Pyramids towering above the destroyed Tower, can you?  The lion serpent's head is illuminated in the light of the Black Sun, and his attention is focused on the red pyramids. This represents that while destruction is happening on the material plane, on the spiritual levels there are some very serious developments taking place.

Like the Hebrew letter "Pe" meaning a mouth, breathing fire across the bottom of the card, is a large mouth (Jaws of Dis). Out of the jaws are large teeth and flame breath. Hidden in the flames are stairs, these stairs go directly through the flames and into the main entrance of the Tower.  From here you must climb to the top and find the secret entrance to the City of Kings.

Glancing up is scary, we see the geometric shapes, or ghosts of failed aspirants falling to the earth.   These human-like shapes are representative of everyday people who will stay grounded in the exoteric aspects of this card, while ignoring the spiritual benefits of Mars.

If you look closely, the pyramids of Mars are clearly visible. Through the lower flames, one can see the base of a pyramid. Along the side of the tower are the most accessible of all of the pyramids, and evident on them is the square patchwork of farming (VVVVV), these areas were worked on by initiates whom are now ancestors.

To gain the Eyes of Abraxas, and have the City of Kings come into full view, requires much work. None of these structures are easily accessed, unless you are ready to work through some difficult situations.

Mars attributes can include: demeanor, ability and/or the skills of an expert fighter are a couple of them.   Mars can bless you with a calmness that is almost deadly in its quiet-confidence/readiness.

Be warned though, the energy of Mars can leave you in an over-confident, no-fear type of a mode if overly-received.

It can be great to call on before a heavy physical-labor type job, or a situation where some quick-courage may be necessary.

XVI Tower represents a legend from the alchemic allegories, which implies that about the time of the development of the first modern tarot decks, Mars and Venus became estranged. Occult legend whispers that Jupiter delivered lady Venus to the Emperor Aries in an arranged marriage. This was the source for the tension associated with Mars, and is why "The Tower fell". Nowadays we focus on the City of Kings, and its ultimate potential.

Interpretation:

Not every reader believes this, but XVI TOWER is one of the best cards that can come up in a throw.   For most, it will always mean a disaster of some kind. The surrounding minors, court and even other trumps will detail said disaster.

Even though, this card has shown me some of the worst moments in my life, it has also shown me triumph, and helped me through some otherwise uncomfortable or seemingly impossible situations.

So in readings XVI Tower will usually represent a disaster, unless your querent can change their perspective to see opportunity.

"Manifestation of cosmic energy in its grossest form" *Crowley – Book of Thoth.

Think of the Tower itself, it is built in an upward direction, and constructed of a very dense material, much like our egos. This is why in a reading it means disaster of the worst kind. It represents all that is important to the aspirant, or highlighted Court card. To add to the dilemma it will usually represent what's personally important being ripped right out from under us.

The Mysteries:

In the secret word "abraHADabra" The Tower represents the place where Hadit resides, located between Abraxas-above & Abraxas-below. neo

In the Mysteries, the card represents sacrifice necessary for initiation.

Are you willing to walk through the Jaws of Dis and its flames, just to locate the Martian Pyramids? . . . . .then on into the entrance of a falling tower (where you can clearly see people jumping off the roof)?. . . . . . then up the stairs?  It is not just courage needed, as once inside, you must find the secret entrance to the City of the Kings..... You have a key to the secret door in your pocket, right?. . . . .  The Mercurial Keys were obtained from the Twin Jackals of Khem while passing through the Valley of Luna in Pisces. This will not only let you in the secret door, but will also help you to properly navigate through the seemingly endless tragedies of mundane life.

Note: the black geometric glob that is hiding directly in the center of the card? It's hiding in plain sight, yet is actually the centerpiece. . .  Crowley knew the secret of Beauty & the Beast, and how the "beast" rode in to town, and won the hand of the King's daughter.  This disguised relative (beast) from the kingdom over-yonder, was not a superior human, so how did he win all 33 of the contests?  It was not fair & square by any means, for one, he was from another royal family, yet disguised as a commoner, and two, he was not infected by the Archon that lives in your neck, and is controlling you now.  This alien parasite is whats keeping you back from winning your personal goals/aspirations/dreams/etc/etc/etc, and what allows certain seeming-blessed individuals to always succeed with a breeze.

LUNA - II High Priestess

Priestess of the Silver Star
As Isis: E`set, Sha`di`el`kai, Blu`ma`za, Bral`ges, Gav`re`el, Ke`ruv`em, Mal`ka Be`tar`she`tem Ad`be`ru`ak`she`ka`kem, Le`va`na, Ash`me`di, ŠeŠ`ki`dnanna

Forward:

In the chapter for XVIII Luna, we discuss the lower, earthier aspects of the Moon; here we will be referring to Luna as a direct reflection of Kether.

Lit-below from the Sunlight of Tipareth, and from above with the pure light of Kether; Nuith is represented here as the crowned priestess Isis; as she casts her own veil of light, and just out of view; are the Pillars of Seth.

She is the Priestess of the Silver Star, associated with legends of Diana the Virgin Huntress; including Atalanta, Endymion, Pan, Actaeon, Persephone, Hebe, Pallas, Athene, Pythia, and the Sybils. These are just a few of the goddesses that would represent the "virgin" aspect of the triune goddess; of Virgin Huntress, Unconditional Mother, and Wise Mother.

Appearance:

The light streams into her awareness from above, and with a look of indifference; she casts her spell. The veil of light emanates outward in brilliance, and within this light is the spirit of the light itself.

The Bow of Artemis sits in her lap, is it a weapon, or is it a musical instrument? Depending on your perspective, it could be either.

The result of her spell is at the bottom of the card, indicated by the Fruits of Labor, the resulting earthly Gemstones, and the treasure of life indicated in the colorful flowers and plant life. The card is related to the Hebrew letter Gimel, and indicates a Camel. Or better said it represents the "change in perspective" after the Camel ride.

Vision after Invocation of Luna:
Out in the desert somewhere; Person one, looks at the old scribe (Person 2) bent over a stone tablet. Person one cannot see the value in how the old scribe spends his time writing, so Person one climbs on his camel and takes a ride to the top of the local mountain. As Person one meditates from the mountain-top; the sunlight glints off the stone tablets in such a way that he realizes that the old scribe is the Hierophant and the tablets are his vast understandings of the cosmos.

Very similar to the above analogy, and highly recommended: Paulo Coelho's "The Alchemist", a very nice book that elaborates the Hieroglyph of II High Priestess very nicely.

Crowley wrote in The Book of Thoth: II High Priestess is the first card which connects the Supernal Triad with the Hexad; and should be considered a direct connection between the father in his highest aspect, with the Son in his most perfect aspect. There is here, therefore, the purest and most exalted conception of the Moon, and at the other end of the scale is XVIII Luna.

Interpretation:

In a reading II High Priestess will sometimes indicate that the Querent is in a transition phase, and cannot see the good in their situation, but the indications say that regardless of what the Querent thinks that they want; the High Priestess has already set their path in motion, and even though the Querent cant see it; the jewels at the bottom of the card indicate that if they "do the right thing", the fruits of their labors will yield a nice material reward. By material reward, I mean that even though the Querent doesn't have what they are wanting; there are indications that at some point in the future they will be much happier than they thought possible.

It may seem impossible to convince the Querent that everything is going to be ok, but an experienced tarot practioneer will always rejoice when the High Priestess comes out, as it indicates that all is good, no worries, as Divine Providence has it under control. This card is a message from the Virgin Goddess to trust in her divine plan.

The Mysteries:

In the tradition of the best mystery schools of the Hindus, the final obstacle to full enlightenment is the Vision of Formless Effulgence. The aspirant must come to realize that the light itself is not what we seek, it is the spiritual essence that the light veils. The dazzling brilliance of the light itself makes this spiritual essence even harder to see, except to the Yogi, High Priest, or High Priestess, Hierophant, and even a lucky student or two; may glimpse past this veil of light and into the spiritual essence of light.

Blavatsky in Isis Unveiled wrote of the Khaldi or Chandsravansa and their worship of their moon god Deus Lunu; indicating that the Akkadians were of the race of Kings of the Moon or race of the moon. Pruyag is now Allahabad, and is the location where they manifested in four lunar phases. The final "dying phase" of the moon was allegorized by them as the evil genius triumphing over sunlight. The Roman Kalends in the forth century started the tradition of calling Monday the day of the moon, as Dies Lunae.  More on this can be found in the Egyptian Book of the Dead translated by Budge.

The Egyptians and Chaldeans considered Isis as the Virgin Mother of God, or Queen of Heaven. In the valley of Biban`el`Molouk, in Thebes, Egypt, is a figure of the divine mother covered in stars who is giving birth to the Sun.

And of course Crowley's 5 Vs refers to this card and the trail that the camel leaves as he crosses the desert.   This is similar to the "square patches" on the Pyramids of Mars on the XVI Tower, or the square patch on the new earth of the XXI Universe card, the footsteps of Yod in XVIII Luna, the guide-wires if XVIII Death, or even the farm under the head of the XII Hanged Man. The 5 V's should be considered the evidence left behind by Initiates who have gone before in the great work.

SATURN: XXI Universe

Great One of the Night of Time
Heh Yod Vav He Elohem Be nap sen Bror ges Tsaf ke el Ar el em Ag e el Zaz el Sha be ti An`shar

Appearance: It is our Lady Babalon from the Lust card; she is encircled in a wreath, which is made-up of the construct of the Universe. In the center of this Zodiacal wheel is a green/blue planet, with swirling waters and a white square patch. The swirling waters are the same as that in the Bible concerning creation, and the square patch is the same as Crowley's five Vs, and would be considered symbolic of the initiate's hard-work concerning the All in All.  These "five Vs" that you will find throughout Crowley's work, have more than one meaning, for this work it will represent the relic, or even footsteps of the Initiates who have gone before.  Like a trail or map; that was left especially for us. She holds a serpent which is wrapped-up in a figure of the number eight, the sign for infinity, and change. The snake's upper loop of the eight indicates the constellation of Leo, and the snake's head and Lady Babylon's feet aimed at Aquarius, which would indicate symbolic of the coming age of Aquarius/Leo. The location of the white patch sitting in Libra, the polar opposite of Aries, signifies the time-period when the All in All project started. The old-testament era, or even at the start of the fifth age of man (Kali Yug). The hook's eye is near the pupil of the Eye of Horus, which is now ignited as the new Sun. The lower loop of the snake is held in place with a barbed fishhook. The barb is attached to the snake near the tribal-sun tattoo, located on the snake's skin. On the upper loop of the serpent, the stars of the Zodiac actually shine through the snake's body, and on the lower loop there is a special blue and gold ray from the Eye, and a tattoo of a new Sun. Crowley: Book of the Law, Chapter 1, verse 60; Nuith Speaks: "My number is 11, as all their numbers who are of us. The Five Pointed Star, with a Circle in the Middle, and the circle is Red. My colour is black to the blind, but the blue and gold are seen of the seeing. Also I have a secret glory for those that love me". The four Cherubim appear as an angel, an eagle, a lion and an ox, sitting at the corners of the card, indicating the four corners of the Universe. The Eye awakens, indicating that the All in All has begun. In the background one of the moons of Saturn; is receiving the gift of water and a resulting primordial soup is developing. In Crowley's Book of Thoth, he implies that this "new earth" is only supposed be visible to the pure of heart. At the lower portion of the card is the symbol of the 92 chemical elements as a framed structure. This structure represents the Universe, and the highest levels of understanding that are obtainable as a human. (Human conception is limited to the understanding of the bare-framework at best). In her hands is the serpent that conceals the Light, Love, & Earth of Saturn. Now that the new Aeon approaches, the Light is escaping the Arcanes and knowledge is awakening in all those who seek the true meaning of the Great Work.

Interpretation: Like the Star, and the Sun; XXI Universe will illuminate a hand very clearly. The less number of cards in your pull; the more it will illuminate the answer, whereas in pulls with a lot of cards; XXI Universe will illuminate the situation and circumstance. As always, the court cards and minor Arcana in any given hand will define the role and nature of this trump. XXI Universe is a very supportive card, in direct questioning, and can be a "ray of hope" in a big-picture reading. Known as the gift giver and the light bearer, legends of Saturnalia and Santa Claus verify his status as a presenter, as well as the unverified personal gnosis, and unverified results of this author. Is there a catch? Good question, the answer is yes, but it is not as bad as you may think. The only "catch" would fall under your own personal laws of morals and duty. This is a very positive card on all levels, especially if life has been tough on you. If you have been true to yourself and others in your plight and you are the type that will "step it up" if necessary? Then expect a "gift" from the Universe. Your gift from the Universe will arrive quickly, and in an unexpected guise. For example:You need a job badly, so you seek assistance from Saturn… In the mundane world you are steadily putting in applications in your field, and in the spiritual world you are steadily asking the Universe for help… The job that you wanted never calls, instead one of the other jobs that you didn't want calls, and two other opportunities arise outside of your career field… And to top it off, each of the three opportunities over-lap each other in ways that will adversely affect other people… With XXI Universe, the gift is available, but you must first have faith that it is available, and then be willing to "rise to the occasion", to accept this gift. Anything that Saturn gives you; you have either "earned" out of severity, or "rose to the occasion" to accept. This cannot be understated enough. All the universe wants to know is; do you accept the gift?... do you love?... are you sure of both answers?... No, are you really sure?... really, really sure?... if not Saturn will be happy to teach you; try ritual magick.

The Mysteries: Like the wise men of Bethlehem; we can follow the Morning Star straight through to Saturnalia. Is the dawn of the Aeon of Aquarius here? This is the end of the 30 year winter on Saturn, and the Hexagram that physically exists on the top of the planet; is now in the full light of our Sun.  As the hydrogen warms on the north pole of Saturn; more water is created, a gift for the new Earth, the Initiate now has the full-support of Sol, in the Great Work.  The rays of a new Sun are shining past the hidden arcanes of the Serpent, and illuminating the earth as more and more humans are discovering the "All in All". The Red Sea is warming, as foreseen by the great Philosophers and Alchemists. NASA has reported heat signatures radiating from the planet Saturn during Cassini fly-bys.   The secret in the head-dress of Sebek is tbe same as the hieroglyph above, and is symbolic of the true nature of the Great Work. The "All in All" and "Red Sea" of Basil Valentine's "12 Keys" corresponds, with the "Great Sea" in Crowley's Book of Thoth. Basil Valentine: 12 Keys: "Let him who would know what this 'All−in−All' is, give the earth great wings, and make it fly upward, through the air to the heavenly regions. Then singe its wings with fierce heat, and make it fall into the Red Sea, and there be drowned. Then dry up the water with fire and air till the earth reappears and you will have 'All−in−All'. This Trump represents the completion of the Great Work from the Aeonic perspective all the way to a personal developmental level perspective. Above we have explained the occulted aspect of the cycles of the Universe; here we are referring to the path of Initiation. Under normal circumstance it will occur over many lifetimes. This Initiation has two spheres. The first is the "Path of 0 The Fool", this is the path of normal mundane life. The other path is the path of "0 The Illuminated Fool", this is the path of Occult Initiation. (see: 0 FOOL; three paths of initiation) This type of path can be completed in one lifetime or in many lifetimes, your choice.
