MARS: XVI Tower

Secret House of God - Lord of the Hosts of the Mighty
As: Horus: Kru e lo hem ge bor ba ba lel be fa fes ka ma el se raf em graf e el ma a dem Bar tseb el Lah`mu

Appearance:

Dominating the card, is the Eye of Horus, wide awake and seemingly staring right at you.  Horus is the Golden Dawn's god-form for Mars, though Shiva the destroyer may be the god-form to consider here.

The main structure in the image would be the remains of a Tower, whose upper portion has crumbled. There are geometric human-shapes falling down towards the flames.

*Crowley – Book of the Law - Chapter 1 – Verse 57- The goddess Nuith speaks:

Invoke me under the Stars! Love is the law, love under will. There are love and love: "there is the dove, and there is the serpent, choose ye well"
He, my prophet, hath chosen, knowing the law of the fortress, and the great mystery of the house of god.

Flying over the destructed tower is a dove which carries the olive branch. This dove would represent your faith.  Mars attributes can strengthen and inspire you. The olive branch also represents awakening understandings concerning your personal growth and path.

Looking towards the Tower is the Illuminated Lion Serpent, Xnoubis or Abraxa, whom represents the initiates and/or ancestors whom have left the trail called VVVVV.  Its obvious that he can clearly see the Martian Pyramids towering above the destroyed Tower, can you?  The lion serpent's head is illuminated in the light of the Black Sun, and his attention is focused on the red pyramids. This represents that while destruction is happening on the material plane, on the spiritual levels there are some very serious developments taking place.

Like the Hebrew letter "Pe" meaning a mouth, breathing fire across the bottom of the card, is a large mouth (Jaws of Dis). Out of the jaws are large teeth and flame breath. Hidden in the flames are stairs, these stairs go directly through the flames and into the main entrance of the Tower.  From here you must climb to the top and find the secret entrance to the City of Kings.

Glancing up is scary, we see the geometric shapes, or ghosts of failed aspirants falling to the earth.   These human-like shapes are representative of everyday people who will stay grounded in the exoteric aspects of this card, while ignoring the spiritual benefits of Mars.

If you look closely, the pyramids of Mars are clearly visible. Through the lower flames, one can see the base of a pyramid. Along the side of the tower are the most accessible of all of the pyramids, and evident on them is the square patchwork of farming (VVVVV), these areas were worked on by initiates whom are now ancestors.

To gain the Eyes of Abraxas, and have the City of Kings come into full view, requires much work. None of these structures are easily accessed, unless you are ready to work through some difficult situations.

Mars attributes can include: demeanor, ability and/or the skills of an expert fighter are a couple of them.   Mars can bless you with a calmness that is almost deadly in its quiet-confidence/readiness.

Be warned though, the energy of Mars can leave you in an over-confident, no-fear type of a mode if overly-received.

It can be great to call on before a heavy physical-labor type job, or a situation where some quick-courage may be necessary.

XVI Tower represents a legend from the alchemic allegories, which implies that about the time of the development of the first modern tarot decks, Mars and Venus became estranged. Occult legend whispers that Jupiter delivered lady Venus to the Emperor Aries in an arranged marriage. This was the source for the tension associated with Mars, and is why "The Tower fell". Nowadays we focus on the City of Kings, and its ultimate potential.

Interpretation:

Not every reader believes this, but XVI TOWER is one of the best cards that can come up in a throw.   For most, it will always mean a disaster of some kind. The surrounding minors, court and even other trumps will detail said disaster.

Even though, this card has shown me some of the worst moments in my life, it has also shown me triumph, and helped me through some otherwise uncomfortable or seemingly impossible situations.

So in readings XVI Tower will usually represent a disaster, unless your querent can change their perspective to see opportunity.

"Manifestation of cosmic energy in its grossest form" *Crowley – Book of Thoth.

Think of the Tower itself, it is built in an upward direction, and constructed of a very dense material, much like our egos. This is why in a reading it means disaster of the worst kind. It represents all that is important to the aspirant, or highlighted Court card. To add to the dilemma it will usually represent what's personally important being ripped right out from under us.

The Mysteries:

In the secret word "abraHADabra" The Tower represents the place where Hadit resides, located between Abraxas-above & Abraxas-below. neo

In the Mysteries, the card represents sacrifice necessary for initiation.

Are you willing to walk through the Jaws of Dis and its flames, just to locate the Martian Pyramids? . . . . .then on into the entrance of a falling tower (where you can clearly see people jumping off the roof)?. . . . . . then up the stairs?  It is not just courage needed, as once inside, you must find the secret entrance to the City of the Kings..... You have a key to the secret door in your pocket, right?. . . . .  The Mercurial Keys were obtained from the Twin Jackals of Khem while passing through the Valley of Luna in Pisces. This will not only let you in the secret door, but will also help you to properly navigate through the seemingly endless tragedies of mundane life.

Note: the black geometric glob that is hiding directly in the center of the card? It's hiding in plain sight, yet is actually the centerpiece. . .  Crowley knew the secret of Beauty & the Beast, and how the "beast" rode in to town, and won the hand of the King's daughter.  This disguised relative (beast) from the kingdom over-yonder, was not a superior human, so how did he win all 33 of the contests?  It was not fair & square by any means, for one, he was from another royal family, yet disguised as a commoner, and two, he was not infected by the Archon that lives in your neck, and is controlling you now.  This alien parasite is whats keeping you back from winning your personal goals/aspirations/dreams/etc/etc/etc, and what allows certain seeming-blessed individuals to always succeed with a breeze.

GEBURAH: four 5's

Rooted or Radical Consciousness

Mysteries of Geburah:

As the 5th sphere on the tree of life, located below the abyss, Geburah represents a Portal of Fire. The fourfold nature of Geburah is best understood by the four minor arcana 5's.

Exoterically, Geburah represents Concern, Strife, Defeat, & Disappointment.  Esoterically, Geburah is also known for helping you or your loved ones through these same concerns, strife, defeats, & disappointments in everyday or mundane life.

As the four individual fiery aspects of the Thoth 5s, Geburah can appear as a rough spot in life, but in reality, Geburah has massive power to motivate you.

As you face each one of these broad encompassing concerns, strife, defeat, & disappointment in your lives  you will grow into a new place.  Geburah is like the purging fire, where you reap what you sow.

What's next is the reward of the 6s.   Live through this, and it will seem better than nice when the sunlight of Tiphareth, and the four 6s shines on you.

Geburah Portal of Fire:  Fire, Mars, Aries, & Geburah.

Cards:

The 5 of Disks "CONCERN" represents the Earthy aspect of the fourfold Geburah.  In a card reading the 5 of Disks will represent an aspect of " CONCERN " in relation to the dominant trump in the throw.  This aspect of power is minor in nature and will affect the situation in regards to a trump, though if a court card is dominant in your throw; than this " CONCERN " could be transmitted to whoever the court card represents, even you.

This card represents the opposing energies of Mercury in Taurus.  In the original Thoth pack it was called "Worry".   In Crowley's Book Of Thoth he describes the action of this card as "intelligence applied to labor", for this reason the card's title has been updated to a more relevant title of "Concern".

Apparent in the card is an inverted pentagram with five grey discs, and on each disc are symbols which have aspect that relate to your concern.

In a card reading this card will highlight the querent's concern over the describing trump, ace or court member.

The 5 of Wands "STRIFE" represents the Fiery aspect of the fourfold Chesed.  In a card reading the 5 of Wands will represent an aspect of " STRIFE " in relation to the dominant trump in the throw.  This aspect of completion is minor in nature and will affect the situation in regards to a trump, though if a court card is dominant in your throw; than this "completion" could be transmitted to whoever the court card represents, even you.

The 5 of Wands represents Saturn in Leo.

Crowley put a symbol for his order's Chief Adept on an Egyptian's Caduceus so as to represent the divine authority of this card's tense situation.   The other Wands represent the Major in Phoenix Wands, and the Minor Adepts, in Lotus Wands, indicating a Divine Feminine influence here.

In a card reading, this one will usually indicate a fight of some sort or another.  Don't be hasty in your judgment though, make sure and really consider the surrounding cards, as this fight could be on any level, from your best friends fighting, to your all your best friends watching the fights on fight night without you.... In everyday pulls, it's a common to pull on a Monday morning on the way to work....

The 5 of Swords "DEFEAT" represents the Airy aspect of the fourfold Gebuah In a card reading the 5 of Swords will represent an aspect of "DEFEAT" in relation to the dominant trump in the throw.  This aspect of truce is minor in nature and will affect the situation in regards to a trump, though if a court card is dominant in your throw, than this "DEFEAT" could be transmitted to whoever the court card represents, even you.

Apparant is an upside down pentagram, representing the disruption of Geburah. All five Swords have different handles and are drooping, except for the deteriorated one which is pointed up.  This card is attributed by Venus in Aquarius, and such a fiery environment indicates defeat.  The defeat is a result of a lack of motivation or even treachery, the surrounding cards will detail this situation.  If you're seeing this card with a lot of court cards, the XIV ART card and/or IX HERMIT, you may consider identifying the court cards in your kingdom.  Yes, this represents defeat, but always remember that these negative sounding cards are still minor in nature, and still only describe the dominate cards, they do not define the entire scope of the reading.

The 5 of Cups "DISAPPOINTMENT" represents the Watery aspect of the fourfold Geburah.  In a card reading the 5 of Cups will represent an aspect of " DISAPPOINTMENT " in relation to the dominant trump in the throw.  This aspect of luxury is minor in nature and will affect the situation in regards to a trump, though if a court card is dominant in your throw, than this " DISAPPOINTMENT " could be transmitted to whoever the court card represents, even you.

This card represents the Mars in Scorpio. We see our disrupting inverted pentagram made of vines growing from a fertile green body of water. The sky is bright orange, illuminating that each cup is empty, and even if it rained, the overhead protective Elephant Ear leafs would not allow any water into the cups regardless.  The white lotus blossoms are secreting Kether's love manna which is being blown away by the Jaws of Dis.

This card is simply a descriptor of a bigger picture, and it does not define your reading, it could even lead to better descriptor cards in the future.
