SCORPIO - XIII DEATH - Child of the Great Transformers - Lord of the Gates of Change

This card is a meditative tool for Scorpio. In the god-form of Serquet; focus on the image and whisper:
Ser-ket VavHehHeYod Ga-e`ol Ka-Da`amp Bar-ke`el Sa-ets-e`el So`sol Ak`rav
Gir`tab

Appearance: A white Eagle in the upper left hand corner symbolizes the Invisible Masters, notice the black guide wires that run from the wings to the Sepirothic Mast. Out of our sight, this mast connects directly to the Star of Kether at the hub of X Fortune's wheel. Since the wheel is turning, and Osiris is dancing; the once, very-tight guide wires are now twisting. These guide wires of change, lead prior souls to new life, even if it appears as if the life is of the lowest forms. Maybe this explains the feverish growth of the lowest life forms, the will of the soul, anxious to give life another try through metempsychosis …
In the Dance of Death, the Osiris skeleton is moving in the waters of Amenti, wielding the saturnine staff of severity. Around the Scythe are the decaying brownish remains of prior passing souls, yet in their mist is the blue sky and even blue spirit creatures, made of the sky itself. So the mercurial guide of the dead brings swift change in one swipe. The reaction to this sweeping death is the essence of this trump. The fear of death permeates, yet we see plainly that regeneration issues directly from the watery triad of love, blind love, and the putrification thereof. This is obvious in the interior glow of an invisible sun, and the sky-blue Scorpion, Snake and Shellfish. These poisonous creatures are blue because of love, though the swiftness of their poison still brings about death and life. Notice the blue Opium Poppy in the lower right hand corner.
Any death starts with the putrification process, the process itself is of a certain vibration, and XIII Death represents that vibration. In nature it would be a vibration similar to one like the action of mold, mildew, fast rusts, corrosion, etc. A life-force of vigor, that implements immediately upon the death of the host, it can be summed up in one statement; Swift Change. In the upper left hand corner we see an eagle, which signifies our aspiration rising outside or above the elemental realms and into the realms of spirit. If the proper death has occurred then the aspirant's developmental level will feverously expand.
There is a fish swimming through the atmosphere of death. This is because of its association with the Hebrew letter Nun, which means a fish swimming through the waters. This fish is indicative of the Vesica or Womb. The Holy Grail and the Secret Doctrine in relation the Great Work is wholly symbolized in this hieroglyph as; death as a guardian of Initiation, before and after. Scorpio is the lowest in the watery triad, which also contains Cancer and Pisces. So working with this card under the constellation of Scorpio or an Elemental Water Tide will help bring result. The proper understanding of the doctrines described here can lead the aspirant to a secret fount of universal energy.

Interpretation:
In a card reading XIII Death will always signify change, usually swift change, not slow and gradually building, like X Fortune, nor like the constant infinity of change that is continually moving in the 2 of Discs either, but a sweeping, even drastic change.
It is like a Death because it is unexpected and even unwanted, and the subsequent changes are not easy to look forward to. This card represents that feeling of brood, the feeling of looking forward to something that you don't necessarily like, a change that will bring about a chain-reaction, it is this chain-reaction that you feel in your gut.
The good news is that your intuition is wrong; XIII Death in a reading tells us that even though you feel this way; it is all good, all blue sky you might say.
If you are familier with your Court cards and Minor Arcana, they can clearly reveal the nature of the change, and whom it will affect.

Examples:
  • XIII Death, 3 Discs, II High Priestess, XI Lust, and Queen of Swords: This would tell you that the querent knows that change is in the works, and his mom will get her way in a very private matter. We could pull some cards to see the nature of this matter, but only if the querent asks for this, he/she normally won't because he/she knows the nature of this situation already.
  • Prince of Wands, 4 of Swords, Princess of Cups, XIII Death, Ace of Wands, and The Empress: This could signify that from your perception, two of your friends, let's say; Tom and Katy, made up after a break-up, and now things are really going well for them.
  • XIII Death, Knight of Cups, 3 of Wands, 4 of Wands, and the 8 of Cups: This hand makes me feel like I am making a mistake working on my book, when I should be busy at my mundane job.
Change in all shapes and sizes, the one common denominator would be the swiftness of this change, and the swiftness of subsequent severities, or at least your anticipation of perceived severities. When XIII Death comes up, even though you feel the dread, it is always an indication of a good outcome. On the card itself focus on the blue aspects, and even the white eagle, or look up to where the drawstrings of this change are coming from; this is a good card.

Mysteries:
The black headdress of Osiris says it all, it is cradled in the heart of the white eagle, while his dance is reminiscent of the Mourning of Isis, his ten ribs would signify the Sepirothic as well as the Quippilothic trees.
The Aspirant has been thinking a lot on this subject, the subject of Death and its part in Initiation, she/he knows that the Death is necessary for the marriage and the subsequent awakenings. The aspirant's mind is working overtime trying to accept this death, this card represents the time when he/she has just accepted the concept of this death, and is considering options.
